The Harvest Service saw the church decorated with beautiful displays of flowers (they are still there if you would like to view them – but hurry!). The service included a presentation on the work of the Mthunthama Orphanage in Malawi, one of the charities that benefits from Harvest giving and Christmas collections – over £500 was donated on Sunday.

Mtunthama Orphanage

For over 20 years villagers in Wing have been generously supporting an orphanage in Malawi run by the charity Medic Malawi through Harvest giving, Christmas collections and other fundraising events.
We’re delighted that Peter Howell-Jones from the charity is coming to tell us more about the charity’s wonderful work running the orphanage and more recently placing children with local families in Malawi at our Harvest Evensong service at 3pm in our beautifully decorated church.
At 4pm tea & cakes will be served in the village hall and there will be a chance to chat with Peter.
All are most welcome to come along to either or both events.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WING VILLAGE HALL

Congratulations to Wing Village Hall for being one of three finalists in the RCC’s (Rural Communities Council) Leicestershire and Rutland’s 100 years centenary awards for the Best Community Building of the Year, held on Thursday 3rd October 2024.
Wing Village Hall was pipped at the post and were a runner up – and are very proud to have been recognised in this way.

RCC who brought their coffee van to Wing and the village hall on three Wednesdays in March 2024 were amazed at the turnout for the coffee van from the locals – anything for a free coffee and a chat! They were impressed with the level of community use of the village hall and interaction amongst the residents.
Attending on behalf of the village hall from the Management Committee were Sally Cox (Chair), Philip Moores, James Fish with Ian Newsham (creator and director of Wing Draws Wing – the community project to teach Wing villagers to draw).
