For many years Wing has been supporting a charity in Africa, the activities of which include running an orphanage and providing much needed medical assistance. Most recently we sent a cheque for £565 representing special church collections for charity, donations from carol singing around the village and other village events.
Local charities are supported with payments to Rutland Air Ambulance, Ridlington Hospice, British Legion and a local Emergency Medical Care charity. The generosity of folk in Wing never ceases to amaze me.
At a time when certain charities have attracted negative press, I thought villagers might like to know more about where their generous donations have gone and how they have helped improve lives. This particular charity is remarkable in that it has no overheads of any sort in the UK from where it is run.
