Warning about targeted phone scam

We’re taking the exceptional step of using Your Rutland to warn you about a spate of cold calls currently targeting Rutland residents.

In the past 48 hours, lots of you have contacted us to say you’ve received phone calls from people posing as Council officers and asking for your bank details over the phone. In some cases these callers are also claiming to work for banks in order to get hold of personal information.

Please be aware that Rutland County Council will never call you out of the blue to ask for your bank details.

If you do get a call from someone claiming to work for the Council and asking for bank details you should hang up straight away – do not give out any personal information.

Report any suspicious calls to the national fraud reporting centre, Action Fraud, by calling: 0300 123 2040.

I have been into the hall and found a few things have been left there. Do any belong to you? if so please get in touch ( quilt9@gmail.com or 01572 737761 ) and we can arrange collection.

1. 2 navy-blue SWEATSHIRTS.

2. 2 PLASTIC BOXES with turquoise/green lids (from the SummerFest?)

3. Grey patterned Santa Cruz HOODIE

4. Navy lightweight lined JACKET (Next) with a hood – possibly 12, wish it fitted me!

5. Green waterproof JACKET (Joules) from a ‘racing’ team? Mary King’s name embroidered on it. This has been there some months.

6. Hessian bag (Sainsbury’s) 7. 2 yellow plastic cutlery trays, no longer needed by the hall

7) Also in, the church, someone has left a ladies waistcoat.
