Don’t forget to check out our The Way We Were page for a trip down memory lane. There is an exciting story of one of Village Hall Committee and a photo of one of Market Harborough’s “famous” sons who now lives in Wing.
This is a photo of a picture Drawn by Miss Brocklebank herself, the founder of the WI in Wing. It must be from the 20s but not sure.
Bryan Spooner, acting Wing Parish Council Chairman, presents Parish Clerk, Susan Awcock with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for all the hard work she has done over the past few years. Susan is leaving the job of Parish Clerk and will be very sadly missed.
In particular Wing, has Susan to thank for her expertise in gaining the village grants for the new play equipment on the playing field.
We all wish Susan very best wishes for the future.
It is great sadness we report the death of Cis. Boothby. Her funeral will be on 16 February. Funeral 11:00 Wing Church, afterwards at the village hall .
She was such a lovely lady and, in her prime, would help anyone. Always cheerful, and with a beautiful smile. She was also a great supporter of any fundraising events in the Village. Our thoughts must be with her son, Nick.
Cynthia is currently in Peterborough hospital. Her chest infection led to other complications that need hospital care to resolve. She will soon be home in better health and sorting us all out as usual ! It is easy to forget that she is 95!
Cynthia is in Manton Care Home for 2 weeks respite. She had been quite poorly over the Holiday period. But she is in ‘fine fettle’ now, laughing, joking and chatting. Apparently, Cynthia is entertaining her visitors and they can barely get a word in!
We are visiting our daughters in the USA this spring. Our home in Wing is protected with the latest in technology and regularly checked while we are away so we are not concerned about leaving it but we do have an imminent problem – our car. Our house does not have any parking space.
We are losing the parking space we had with our neighbour as their property is going to be sold so we are looking for someone with room for a car to be parked for up to 4 months.
We will pay for the space or give a donation to your favorite charity but we are leaving at the end of Feb. If you have, or know of someone has, such space please call 737761 0r email email@example.com
There will be a Christmas lunch held at the hall on Sunday 11 December 12:30 for 1:00 pm
Same Arrangements as last year, if you are not now a resident you might like to consider a donation, but if you consider yourself senior and you live in Wing then it’s all free. This year the main burden of the cost will be borne by the Thursday Coffee Morning group.
Same catering, same menu, same good time to be had. 100 Club double prize value again.
What you need to do:- Get your name on the list held by Paul Brewer. He is captive every Thursday morning 10:30 till 12:00 at the Village Hall charming the ladies, well some of them, at Coffee Morning. If you need to use a telephone go straight to the top and let Mary Rodgers know on 01572 737475. Failing that, give your details to any member of the committee and they will ensure you’re details are entered.
This Years Menu, as last year, will be:-Traditional Christmas Lunch followed by,
Christmas Pudding or Lemon Meringue Roulade or Fresh Fruit Salad
The list will hopefully show your choice of sweet.
I am sorry to report that Anne Ruffell passed away on Monday, 10th October 2016.
Her funeral is at 1:45pm on Friday 21 October at Wing Church and afterwards at the Village Hall.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends, especially Miranda, at this sad time.
