I am not sure if you know about us, but if you don’t, we are called Round Rutland, and previously we have left leaflets around the villages offering our services over the years.
Our service is to offer support to vulnerable and elderly people by visiting them, identifying their needs and signposting/referring them to the relevant organisation. We’ve enabled people to live independently for longer in their homes by finding the right support, from little things such as getting grab rails fitted to applying for funding for care and getting them out into the community on trips and days out etc. the help we have provided over the years has been varied dependent on the individual’s needs. We have also helped to set up Good Neighbour Schemes in the county (this has now been taken over by the Rural Community Council who are still in operation).
Unfortunately, after 10 years, our funding has come to an end and on February 14th, we will be holding our last event; A kind of hand over so that everybody and anybody who needs help, may need help in the future or knows people who may need support, can meet the organisations we have worked with and find out more about them.
It also gives people who know us the chance to say goodbye as we end our project in March.
Please find attached a flyer about the event. Its a drop-in from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and there will be tea and cakes for anyone that comes.
I hope I haven’t left it too late to send this, as we had the flyers sent quite late. Please let me know if I am too late so that if I need to come to the village and deliver some leaflets, I can plan it in.
Also, we have planned for a couple of small coaches/mini buses to come into Caldecott, Lyddington, Seaton, Morcott, Barrowden, South Luffenham, Edith Weston, Ryhall, Great Casterton, Empingham, Exton, Cottesmore & Langham for anyone that wants to go that doesn’t have their own transport or means of getting there, but places are limited. If they can ring our office number on 01572 335101 and leave their details. Because of the limited availability, we have to prioritise and we need to know asap.

Free parents and carers showing of an internet safety theatre production ‘In the Net’
You are invited to watch a free performance of ‘In the Net’ by the AlterEgo Theatre Group which your child (years 3 & 4) may also be watching through their school (subject to availability). This production is part of ongoing work by the police, councils, NHS and others, who are continuing to work hand-in-hand to support children to stay safe online and to tackle Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
The internet is an amazing tool which opens the door on a global scale to social and learning opportunities. Most children access the internet from a very early age including via games consoles, and we must therefore teach children how to stay safe online in the same way that we teach them to cross the road.
‘In the Net’ is a fun and entertaining pantomime which raises the profile of internet safety and cyber-bullying. The play has been shown to hundreds of children around the UK and was also shown to a sample of local primary schools in February 2017. It was very positively received. ‘In the Net’ is designed to introduce and explore concepts such as:
- Safe internet use
- Keeping personal information safe
- The effects of cyber-bullying on others
- What to do if you are being cyber-bullied
- What to do when you get that ‘Uh-Oh!’ feeling
- What to do if you have questions or concerns

Her company offers the opportunity for the artisans and Master craftsmen to sell to a wider market. Helen has more recently worked with women’s groups and her work continues. Do put this date in your diary and come to hear her fascinating story. We will welcome men too!!
