Wing Children’s Library

Wing Children’s Library is now officially open!  Village families gathered last Sunday for an afternoon of storytelling, a puppet show and refreshments.  Many thanks to Sharon Milner, Sue Bastable and Lyn Walsh for leading the children’s activities and to those who helped set things up and serve refreshments.  Rob Persani came along from Rutland Sounds and ran a feature on his Monday breakfast radio show.  Look out for an article in the local paper.

Books are free to borrow, as many and as often as families like. The church is open daily so please come in and help yourselves. We’d love to know how much the library is being used so please record borrowed books in the colourful little book provided.  There are lots of books in reserve so we will be refreshing the book selections regularly.

Next up is the children’s Christmas party in the village hall on Sunday 7 December.  Watch out for more book-related activities in 2026!

Wing Harvest: Thanks and Flowers

It was a wonderful celebration of Harvest in Wing last weekend! Thank you to everyone who wrapped up warmly for a splendid lunch kindly hosted by Jeffy and David in their barns and to all who helped prepare and serve the delicious food and drink.

Lunch was followed by Harvest Evensong in our beautifully decorated church led by Vyv Wainwright with a talk by his wife Ali about Rutland Foodbank.

If anyone missed them, please pop into church to see the beautiful floral and produce displays. Here are a couple of photos as a taster.

In addition to raising funds needed to maintain our ancient village church, a raffle raised over £300 for the charity supporting orphans in Malawi and the church collection of £283 will be donated to Rutland Foodbank helping local people in food poverty.

Thank you very much to everyone for your generosity and support.
