STOLEN – no, moved!

Some kind(?) soul had moved the box, with its contents intact, into the village bus shelter so we have called off the dragnet and stood the Rutland County Police down. We are attempting to recall the helicopter. The disadvantaged SHALL have a Christmas now.

Judith Oakley has been collecting items for the Rutland Food Bank and had put a large labelled plastic box outside her home at 4 Top St for donations. She returned from shopping at around 11:45 am this morning, Wednesday 7 Dec, to find that in the hour that she had been away the box and its contents had been STOLEN.

If anyone saw anyone suspicious around please contact her on 737761.

WING WI MEMORIES AND MEMBERS’ TEA.

Thursday 12 January, 2.30 pm in the Village Hall.

Following the celebration of Wing WI’s 90th birthday this year all the scrapbooks containing photos and memorabilia have been brought up to date so we are having a “Memories” afternoon when everyone can look at the scrapbooks and also the archive minute books which provide an interesting insight into WI and village events since the Wing WI started in 1926. Members are asked to bring a plate of food, savoury or sweet, for the tea.
Visitors from Wing or elsewhere are always welcome and this will be an opportunity for anyone interested to find out more about the WI in Wing and also the part the WI plays nationally through campaigns and participation in government policy committees (e.g the proposal of banks to discontinue the use of cheques which was abandoned after it was opposed by national groups including the WI).
Those interested in village history are also welcome to come to look at the Wing WI archive.  Information from the secretary, Jane Gilmore:  01572 737324
