Warning about targeted phone scam

We’re taking the exceptional step of using Your Rutland to warn you about a spate of cold calls currently targeting Rutland residents.

In the past 48 hours, lots of you have contacted us to say you’ve received phone calls from people posing as Council officers and asking for your bank details over the phone. In some cases these callers are also claiming to work for banks in order to get hold of personal information.

Please be aware that Rutland County Council will never call you out of the blue to ask for your bank details.

If you do get a call from someone claiming to work for the Council and asking for bank details you should hang up straight away – do not give out any personal information.
